Yarn selection
I've found out that 100% cotton yarn made the pattern more sturdy. But that does not mean that you can not use a different yarn.
The good thing about this pattern is that, any yarn will give you a
beautiful result.
Crochet Stitches and Terminology
You don't need fancy stitches to complete this project, with basic stitches you can make cure and even fancy crochet items.
I
wrote this pattern using US terminology and below is a list of stitches I use.
- sk = skip
- sl st = slip stitch
- ch = Chain
- dc = double crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- rep = repeat (what is between the *)
- st = stitch
- inc = increase / 2 dc on each stitch
- rep = repeat
- sc = single crochet
- * = Indicates start and finish of repeat
- dec = decrease
- FLO: front loop only
- BLO = Back loop only - Click here to learn

How to close the bottom of the bag
With the help
of a tapestry needle sew around the hole grabbing only the outer loops. Please
see picture.
After sewing
around the stitches, pass the tapestry needle from inside then pull it tight to
close the hole.
How to work the strap
Starting on the corner of the upper part (refer to pictures below), re-attach the yarn.
Row 1: work 2 sc.
Row 2: *Ch 1 and turn, work 2 sc* rep.
Repeat row 2
as many times as you want until you have the desired length for your strap.
Once you have
the desired length, cut the yarn and attach the strap on the opposite side with
the help of a sewing needle.
Weave in all the ends and sew the magnetic snap button
Bag lining (Optional step)
Position your
bag over the fabric and cut 2 equal parts that is at least 1/2" wider and
taller than your bag.
Sew the sides
leaving the top opened. Then fold the top out.
Position the
lining inside your bag and using a sewing needle and thread, attach it being
careful to not let the thread to be seen from the outside.
And now you have it! The perfect crochet toddler bag.
